Artifacts

What each Design phase produces and the purpose of each artifact.

Phase Artifacts

PhaseFileWhat It Contains
Empathize01-empathize.mdUser research findings, existing pattern analysis, accessibility baseline, stakeholder needs, context of use
Define02-define.mdComponent contract: props table, variant matrix (size x style x state), slot definitions, token references, ARIA roles, keyboard interactions, i18n considerations
Ideate03-ideate.md3+ design options with descriptions, token mappings per option, trade-off analysis, recommended approach with rationale
Prototype04-prototype.mdFigma component reference, implementation notes, variant-to-Figma mappings, design system token usage
Test05-test.mdWCAG 2.1 compliance report (color contrast, keyboard, focus, screen reader), component contract validation results

A bypassed prerequisite (--skip-checks) is recorded as a skipped line in .singularskills/log.jsonl.

Artifact Format

All artifacts are Markdown files. The component contract in 02-define.md uses structured tables for props, variants, tokens, and accessibility specifications. Binary assets (Figma files, images) are stored in Figma via MCP, not locally.

Key Artifact Types

  • Component contracts — Props, variants, slots, and token references that define the component's API
  • Variant matrices — All combinations of size, style, and state with total count
  • Token references — Design system tokens for colors, spacing, typography, and radii
  • WCAG audit results — Per-criterion pass/fail with specific measurements
  • Figma references — Links to prototype components in Figma

Cross-Domain References

Design artifacts are frequently consumed by other domains:

  • Development reads 02-define.md for the component contract (props, variants, slots) when implementing
  • Accessibility reads 05-test.md for WCAG compliance baselines
  • Coaching reads any phase artifact when providing UX or accessibility reviews
