Singular · overview

Installation

Install singularskills into any agent with the universal installer, or through the Claude Code and Codex marketplaces.

singularskills is one pack of plain SKILL.md folders. Any agent that supports the Agent Skills format can load it. Install it once per project (or once per user with --global); every skill and workflow comes with it.

Universal installer

The universal installer copies skills/ into the skills folder of each agent it detects in your project:

npx skills add bromso/singularskills # this project
npx skills add bromso/singularskills --global # every project, user scope
npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent codex -y # one agent, no prompts

Skills land in .agents/skills/ for Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and Kimi Code CLI, and in .claude/skills/ for Claude Code. Each skill keeps its scripts/ folder (the phase gates, executable) and its references/ folder.

The sections below give each Tier 1 agent's command and anything extra it needs.

Claude Code

Install from the marketplace, inside Claude Code:

/plugin marketplace add bromso/singularskills
/plugin install singularskills@singularskills

The plugin adds the /design-empathize-style command wrappers and the gate hook, which checks a phase's required artifacts before any write into .singularskills/. The hook needs jq on your PATH; without it, the hook lets every write through and only the skills' own gate scripts check. The universal installer (--agent claude-code) also works, but it installs neither the command wrappers nor the hook.

To update:

/plugin marketplace update singularskills
/plugin update singularskills@singularskills

Codex

codex plugin marketplace add bromso/singularskills
codex plugin add singularskills@singularskills

Or use the universal installer with --agent codex.

OpenCode

npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent opencode

Cursor

npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent cursor

GitHub Copilot

For Copilot in VS Code and the Copilot CLI:

npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent github-copilot

Gemini CLI

npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent gemini-cli

For the command wrappers (/design-empathize and the rest), also copy adapters/gemini/commands/*.toml from the repository into .gemini/commands/ (project) or ~/.gemini/commands/ (user).

Kimi Code CLI

npx skills add bromso/singularskills --agent kimi-code-cli

Other agents

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, GitHub Copilot (VS Code and CLI), Gemini CLI and Kimi Code CLI are Tier 1: tested per release, with the results on the agent checklist.

Tier 2 is everything else npx skills add supports, including Windsurf, Zed, Cline, Antigravity, Roo Code, Qwen Code, Goose, Amp, Kilo Code and Trae. These agents are supported through the universal installer but not tested per release.

Where results go

Skills write their artifacts to .singularskills/<workflow>/<project>/ in your project (for example .singularskills/design/date-picker/01-empathize.md) and append one line per event to the run log, .singularskills/log.jsonl. Commit the .singularskills/ folder: it records what each phase produced and what was approved, the gates read it, and so do the singular-status and singular-report skills. The Workflows page describes both formats.

Verify

Run a first phase in any agent. Agents with command wrappers (Claude Code, Gemini CLI) take the command form; the others pick the skill up by name or by description:

/design-empathize test-component

The skill asks what it cannot infer, then writes .singularskills/design/test-component/01-empathize.md. The Figma steps of the design skills also need a Figma MCP server; see the design workflow page.

Migrating

Migrating from metapowers: move .metapowers/ to .singularskills/ and replace /domain:skill with /domain-skill. Artifacts written before the run log existed count as written: the conductor offers them for approval instead of re-running their skills.

Move the folder in your project root and commit the move, so your artifacts' history stays in one place. Commands are now hyphenated: /design-empathize instead of the old colon form. Then remove the old per-domain plugins or files from your agent and install the pack as above.
